Yes, it's already 20 years from the day when Linux started growing!
As ususal when there's an anniversary it's time to take a look in the past to see what happened, well it seems that in 20 years, moving slowly and hidden for a long time but constantly growing, Linux defeated its biggest rival: Windows!
That's impossible!
It sounds strange saying that Linux defeated Windows, at least to the average desktop/laptop user, because in this field uncle Bill still has the biggest part of the market (together with Apple now) because Windows is usually preinstalled on any computer, so everyone is used to use it, and everyone feels comfortable now with it...but computer industry goes far beyond deskops: servers, supercomputers, networks, cellphones, embedded systems...in all of these sectors Linux won easily!
The reason why Linux is more used than its rival in those application is that it gives more customization possibilities, it's more easy to hack, and it more reliable. The problem with desktops is that it's still a bit too complicated for that kind of users......but things are changing!
